Public Speaking Topics

Dear children,

Please see below the topics for your public speaking. (Those in 5 Hope for Public Speaking can use the topics below for reference as well as you should be doing the same thing.)  It should not be longer than 3 minutes. Be mindful of the time when you are planning your speech as a few pupils exceeded the previous time. You can refer also refer to the broad topics below. You must use the structure stated below for any topic that you choose. You can choose to write them on cue cards, paper or have it typed and printed out. Enjoy the process as all of you grow to become confident, fluent and great speakers!:)

Macro (Broad) Topics
1) More open ended type of topics, one word topics (suggestion: Homework / Happiness / War / Missing / Red etc)
2) Argumentative topics (suggestion: Social media corrupts / Exams are useless / Health is wealth etc)
  • You can explore the use of all types of speech frameworks (timeline-past, present, future / pros vs cons / 5W1H )
  • Craft your speech in the following structure: For every point you make, it must be substantiated with a valid reason and an example. PREP (state the point, give the reason, provide a good example, repeat the point again)
